Science Mentor

Alex has over 4 years of professional experience in the field of analytics and big data.  On top of that, Alex has over 6 years tutoring experience with a focus on delivering tailored mathematics and science tutoring for high school students from year 7-12. He is a graduate of UNSW with a double degree in commerce and science and majors in actuarial students and statistics. Alex currently works as a data scientist at First Derivatives, specialising in delivering analytics solutions through the use of big data. Alex prides in his strength in quantitative subjects and uses a teaching style where he puts himself in the students’ shoes to ensure clarity and good flow of information so they can grasp onto important concepts. Yihong Li has been working as a specialised high school Mathematics and Science tutor for the past 3 years having achieved outstanding Mathematics results of 99 in Extension 1 and 93 for Extension 2 in the HSC and 90+ for all her science subjects. Yihong currently studies at the University of UNSW in a bachelor of electrical engineering and spends a vast majority of her time outside of university mentoring and tutoring high school students in Mathematics and Science. Yihong’s strength lies in her patience and ability to explain the concepts clear and precisely for students. Conor is an experienced High School English tutor who is currently studying a Bachelors of Arts at the University of Sydney. He is a well rounded writer of fiction, essays and prose and is currently working to have his first novel published. He has a wide range of teaching experience since 2010 and has taught over 30 students of different years and finds great satisfaction in determining the best learning path for each of his students. Eason Xia is a graduate from Fort Street High School achieving an ATAR of 99.40. He is currently studying a bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Commerce at UNSW. Having tutored a large number of high school students, he is focused on delivering personalised tutoring in Mathematics and Science. Eason aims to deconstruct the subject content,restructuring the ideas in a simpler format to ensure a complete understanding of the important concepts. Students have seen visible improvements in their exam techniques. In his higher school certificate, he achieved band 6s across all his subjects.

William is currently completing a double degree in Law and Commerce in UNSW. He graduated from James Ruse Agricultural High School having completed 15 units of study. He was a HSC all-rounder having completed a diverse range of subjects including Modern History, Economics, Chemistry, Extension 1 and 2 Mathematics, PDHPE and English Advanced and Extension 1. He has extensive experience in tutoring  primary school children as well as chemistry and Mathematics.
